S1E50 - A Reprise for Liebowitz

Episode discussed: The Deconstruction of Falling Stars

In which we finish Season 4 with "The Deconstruction of Falling Stars", which is a weird episode. We discuss the remnants of Clark's regime, the far future of Babylon 5, and historical analysis and revision. Also, we answer your questions for our fiftieth episode!

This episode is dedicated to all who gave BabPod a low rating. Idiocy manages.

S1E48 - Nuke the Bad Vibes

Episode covered: "Endgame"

We cover episode 4.20, and are as adult about it as you expect. We get the return of war crimes discussion (air horns), the guilt of collaborators, and the end of the Earth civil war. We also get sad about Marcus and talk about a bounty of guest actors.

S1E47 - God Sent Me

CW for discussion of end-of-life issues and impact on caregivers Episode discussed: "Between the Darkness and the Light"

CW for discussion of end-of-life issues and impact on caregivers. In which we distinguish between "saddest" and "most emotionally devastating" TV moments. "Between the Darkness and the Light" features Lennier showing his snarky side, comparisons of Londo to Uncle Iroh in terms of redemption arc quantity, and the cast wondering if saying "Bester" three times while facing a mirror fixes plot holes. More seriously, Garibaldi is incredibly lucky that he found Franklin; Ivanova, Number One, and Lyta are all stone-cold badasses; and we discuss the creative decision to have President Clark appear so rarely on camera.

S1E46 - 500 Gigs of Centauri Porn, or the Passion of the Sheridan

Content Warnings: Intersections is focused around a detailed torture sequence, and includes discussion of such. Episodes discussed: The Face of the Enemy; Intersections in Real Time

Content Warnings: Intersections is focused around a detailed torture sequence, and includes discussion of such.

In which we find out the Judas price of our hosts. In "The Face of the Enemy," Garibaldi sells out Sheridan, we FINALLY get the payoff of Garibaldi being an asshole, and Jude and Justen lose it over JMS writing an X-Men plot. Then, in Intersections in Real Time, we get Wayne Alexander (again!), an episode with just one set, and we have to unfortunately compare this to a Star Trek episode.

S1E45 - Enough is Enough, Dr. Kelso

"No Surrender, No Retreat" and "Exercise of Vital Powers"

In which Jude refuses to admit that Season 4 Franklin is an OK character. "No Surrender, No Retreat" features some epic bedhead from Vir, G'Kar surfing Reddit while Londo attempts to admit that he's made some bad choices, and speculation on whether they had to use a maintbot with a tattoo gun to put the station logo on the White Stars. In "Exercise of Vital Powers", Garibaldi goes full QAnon and meets his creepy new boss, and goes above and beyond his brainwashing to be an awful human being, and we discuss the various merits of growing oranges on Mars vs. B5.

S1E44 - To Sleep, Perchance to Yeet a Delenn

"Rumors, Lies, and Bargains" and "Moments of Transition"

This week, Delenn and John are dealing with their own respective brewing civil wars in their own special ways: self sacrifice and dubious hijinks! In "Rumors, Lies, and Bargains" we discover that John has lost ALL ability to function like a civilized adult without Delenn around, and turns into a chaos goblin to get the League to do what he wants. Meanwhile his better half travels to Minbar to sort out the war with the Warrior Caste, where (almost) everyone acts like a damn fool. In "Moments of Transition" she wraps up the war with a traditional Yeeting, while Bester shows up at the station to buy a corpse.

S1E43 - He Turned in His Badge, Right?

Episodes discussed: Lines of Communication and Conflicts of Interest

In which we discuss missing blood and identify Zathrii. In "Lines of Communication," we talk about playing with your expanding fighting pike, the numbering conventions of the White Stars, and how it took a week for the Minbari to lose every cultural norm. We also love Number One's hair?

In "Conflicts of Interest", Jude makes a summary shorter than the episode, Garibaldi does not observe appropriate dismissal procedures from his old job, and Garibladi is starting to get on our nerves. More, that is. Ana also proposes a hypothesis that somehow upsets both Justen and Jude.

S1E42 - Model of a Modern Minbar Warcriminal

Episodes discussed: Atonement and Racing Mars

This week, Jude doesn't want to ask how Justen is doing, we debate whether a propensity to fuck aliens is a feature of human souls, and if alien fucking is the path to ascension.

And also show tunes.

In "Atonement", Delenn contends with Minbari traditionalism and wraps up a number of Minbari plot lines, and we get the start of a storyline that's going to turn Justen into a goblin in "Racing Mars" where Marcus and Franklin head to Mars under the cover of being a married couple.
